A RECONCILING NATION?
I received the following word February 9, 2006. It seems even more pertinent now than it did then and I felt I should share it once more as the heat of the election season intensifies:

February 9, 2006: First, I believe the Lord impressed me that the enemies of the United States will wait until there is a weaker man in the office of the presidency. Before Bush was elected to his second term the Lord told me that he would be re-elected with difficulty (witness the bitterness of the campaign and the challenge to the Ohio vote that delayed the final outcome and could have turned the election if successful). He told me that the second term would not be like the first, that the president would be faced with issues beyond the wisdom of any man to solve and that many of these would be unknown to us. This has unfolded with increasing intensity and to the detriment of President Bush’s approval ratings. The Lord told me that if we don’t pray urgently now for the public redemption of this presidency, the next presidential election will be a backlash and that it won’t make any difference whether you are a Democrat or Republican, it will be destructive to the nation. A weaker man in the White House would be an invitation to disaster.

Second, the Lord reminded me that George Bush ran his first campaign on the promise that he would be a reconciler bringing the various factions together to solve the nation’s problems. In the heat of the severe tests that have come his way since taking office in 2001, this gift and calling have been stolen from the president. Nationally and internationally we are called not to be a nation at war, but to be a nation of reconciliation. We must reconcile the factions within our own borders and act as a great reconciler in the world.  The gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. We must pray a “Timothy prayer” for George Bush, that the gift and vision within him for reconciliation be rekindled and restored before it is too late. We must pray that he, himself, will remember this and be given the wisdom, the grace and the power to successfully navigate a new course. We must pray for Divine favor for him to exercise it. Without it, we may well careen out of control into national and international destruction and war.

Additional comments 11/01/07: There may still be time for some degree of redemption of the Bush presidency to occur. Whether you vote Democrat or Republican (and I am advocating neither), it would be good for the country if it did. I believe the Lord told me that prophetic voices have the president's ear, but that they are speaking false words to him from their own imaginations and not from the heart of God. I have prayed for this to change and for the true voice of the Lord to be heard and to bear the fruit that any true word from God does. Whether or not you agree with this assessment, we have clearly been commanded to pray for "kings and all who are in authority". Please do so. The hour is urgent and no prayer is ever wasted.
