 OUR PRODUCTION TEAM
These are the people who at various times have had primary responsibility for assembling and arranging albums. A number of other fine musicians are part of our team and make essential contributions, but the following artists have accounted for our unique style and sound.


Loren Sandford
is the driving force behind New Song Music in both song-writing (for worship and for listening) and vocals. He began as a rock musician in 1966 while still in High School and traveled all over the Pacific Northwest before leaving to earn a bachelor's degree in vocal music in 1969. After college he earned a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary (1976) and has ministered full time ever since, most of that time as a senior pastor. He has led worship and shared his music through most of the USA and in Australia, Germany, Canada and South Africa and was the worship leader for the very first Promise Keepers mass men's meeting at the CU Event Center in Boulder, Colorado in 1991. Today his music emphasizes both flat-picked and intricate finger style acoustic guitar in a variety of tunings wedded to carefully crafted lyrics and richly layered vocals and includes blended elements of styles ranging from folk, to rock, to blues, and jazz. Recently he has begun using midi guitar to access sound modules and sounds usually available only to keyboard players. The result is a unique and interesting sound. As of July,1997, Loren has assumed chief production responsibilities for NSM, as well. Not just a musician and pastor, Loren is also an author. Check out his books by clicking HERE.


Duane McCarthy
is a lifetime professional. His pro career began at the age of 15 when he left home to make his living on the road with his unusual brand of eclectic flute. He has contributed to major productions with big name artists in studios all over the United States, both as a player and as a production consultant, for nearly a quarter century and has played in bands with styles ranging from country to rock to blues and jazz. His flute style currently employs processor presets normally used only by electric guitarists. The result is unique, to say the least, and is not to be missed. On top of it all, he's a brilliant arranger. Duane was co-producer on all of NSM's recordings until July, 1997. Since that time he has been back "on the road", but still calls us his home. He'll be back!


Lanie Clum
has a long history as a player. Her influences range from jazz to nearly every style imaginable. She has provided not only her keyboard skills, but orchestration, songwriting (a song on "A Drink of You") and vocals, as well. Her influence is deeply felt on "Not Alone" and "Shadow Bright". As of 10/2000, Lanie has moved on to other things, but her work is fixed for posterity on these albums for all to hear. We'll miss working with her.
